Teaching & academics

Results sit comfortably above national benchmarks: 38% of GCSE entries reached grades 9-7 against a national average of 23%, while at A-level 32% achieved A*-A and 63% A*-B. The curriculum is unusually flexible, with GCSE, A-level, the IB, BTEC and the EPQ all on offer, so pupils can follow either an academic or a more applied route. Popular A-level choices lean towards Mathematics, the sciences-adjacent subjects, Economics and the humanities, and three modern languages are taught. Around 21% of pupils receive SEN support, suggesting the school accommodates a range of learning needs.

Beyond the classroom

Sport is a clear strength, with hockey, cricket, tennis, netball and rugby all played, and a dedicated sport scholarship for talented athletes. A drama scholarship points to a lively performing arts culture too. The boarding setting allows these activities to extend well beyond the school day.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A large, all-through independent with strong results and an unusually wide qualifications menu. Scholarships and bursaries of up to 100 per cent can ease fees that otherwise reach £36,648 for day pupils and £56,106 for boarders.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
