School summary

A Catholic boarding and day school for girls set in Surrey, Woldingham has educated pupils since 1842 and today teaches around 550 girls aged 11 to 19. Its standout feature is an exceptionally low pupil-to-teacher ratio of roughly seven to one, which allows for genuinely close attention. The Independent Schools Inspectorate rated the school excellent across the board in its most recent inspection, including for pupils' personal development, and found it fully compliant. Boarding sits at the heart of school life, with a thoughtful, age-graded approach to phone use that keeps the younger years largely phone-free during the day.

Teaching & academics

Around half of GCSE entries are awarded the top grades of 9 to 7, and at A-level half of results are A*-A with more than four in five reaching A*-B. The sixth form of about 160 girls supports a notably broad curriculum, from sciences and economics to history of art, Chinese and drama, alongside the EPQ for those wanting an independent research challenge. Languages are a clear strength, with French, German, Spanish and Chinese all on offer. The school also provides SEN support to a substantial proportion of pupils, around 27 per cent.

Watch Passmate decide how to teach.

Answer as a child would. Left: what they see. Right: what it learns about them.

A small, close-knit Catholic girls' school where boarding life and a seven-to-one staffing ratio shape the experience. Means-tested bursaries and a generous spread of scholarships help widen access to its considerable fees.

That’s where Passmate comes in. Tutoring is the most effective thing in a child’s preparation - a well-tutored child can outperform the vast majority of their peers. Passmate works alongside your tutor, not instead of them: it learns how your child thinks, finds the gaps, and shows the tutor exactly where to spend each session - so the limited time you have lands on what actually decides a place.

Works alongside your child’s tutor - not instead of them.
